Use Case: Hot Tub Controller with Krill Desktop

I control my hot tub using a Raspberry Pi running Krill Server. The Krill Desktop application provides an intuitive interface to monitor and adjust the temperature, set timers, and manage maintenance schedules for my hot tub.

Setup

  1. Install Krill Server: I installed Krill Server on my Raspberry Pi, which is connected to the hot tub’s control system.
  2. Atlas Scientific PH, Conductivity and Temperature Sensors work out of the box with krill server, just plug them into a usb port and Krill will start recording their data.
  3. Heater control and Elecicity Cost - using web hooks I download the current electricity cost from my utility provider and use that to optimize when to heat the hot tub.
  4. Freeze Alarm - I have set up a freeze alarm that notifies me if the temperature drops below a certain threshold, preventing potential damage to the hot tub during cold weather.
