Create lists of tasks for anything you want to track.

Task List

Task List: Project Task Management

The Task List feature provides built-in task management for your automation projects within the Krill App. Create, organize, and track tasks with priorities and deadlines, helping you manage project workflows and document processes alongside your automation data.

Overview

Automation projects involve more than just setting up sensors—they require planning, maintenance schedules, calibration tasks, and ongoing improvements. Task Lists integrate project management directly into Krill, keeping your to-do items alongside the systems they relate to.

Key Features

  • Task Creation: Add tasks with titles and descriptions
  • Priority Levels: Set task importance (None, Low, Medium, High, Critical)
  • Progress Tracking: Mark tasks as complete
  • Deadline Support: Set due dates for time-sensitive items
  • Task Organization: Group related tasks together
  • Process Documentation: Document procedures as repeatable task templates
  • Project Integration: Link tasks to specific automation projects
  • Timestamping: Track when tasks are created and updated

Priority Levels

PriorityUse Case
NoneGeneral tasks without urgency
LowNice-to-have improvements
MediumStandard maintenance tasks
HighImportant items needing attention soon
CriticalUrgent issues requiring immediate action

Use Cases

  • Installation Checklists: Track setup steps for new equipment
  • Maintenance Schedules: Regular upkeep tasks with reminders
  • Calibration Procedures: Step-by-step calibration workflows
  • Troubleshooting Steps: Diagnostic procedures to follow
  • Upgrade Planning: Track planned improvements
  • Documentation Tasks: Items needing writeup or review
  • Compliance Checklists: Regulatory or safety requirements
  • Team Assignments: Distribute work across team members

Task Item Structure

Each task contains:

  • Title: Brief task description
  • Description: Optional detailed notes
  • Completed: Boolean completion status
  • Priority: Individual task priority
  • Due Date: Optional deadline

Best Practices

  • Clear Titles: Use action-oriented task names
  • Appropriate Priority: Reserve high/critical for truly urgent items
  • Realistic Deadlines: Set achievable due dates
  • Regular Review: Check and update lists frequently
  • Break Down Large Tasks: Divide complex work into subtasks
  • Document Procedures: Turn completed workflows into reusable templates
  • Link to Projects: Associate tasks with relevant automation
  • Archive Completed: Keep finished lists for reference

Integration Points

  • Projects: Task Lists are children of Project nodes
  • Journal: Document task completion in project journals
  • Data Points: Link tasks to sensors needing maintenance
  • Triggers: Set reminder triggers for due dates
  • Serial Devices: Track device maintenance tasks

Example Workflows

New Project Setup:

  1. Create Project node
  2. Add Task List: “Setup Checklist”
  3. Add tasks for each installation step
  4. Mark tasks complete as you progress
  5. Document completion in Project Journal

Recurring Maintenance:

  1. Create Task List template
  2. Copy for each maintenance period
  3. Work through tasks systematically
  4. Track completion dates
  5. Note any issues found

Team Collaboration:

  1. Create shared Task List
  2. Assign priorities to tasks
  3. Set deadlines
  4. Track progress together
  5. Review in team meetings

Benefits

Organization:

  • Keep track of all pending work
  • See priorities at a glance
  • Never forget critical tasks

Documentation:

  • Procedures become repeatable
  • Knowledge is preserved
  • Training materials built-in

Accountability:

  • Clear task ownership
  • Visible progress
  • Deadline awareness

Integration:

  • Tasks live alongside automation
  • Context is always available
  • No switching between apps

Task Lists bring simple but powerful project management to your Krill automation environment, helping you stay organized and on top of project work.
